A few years ago, Amazon approached Shanyo with an exceptionally stringent mechanical requirement for a key flagship project. While standard high-end electronic applications mandate a baseline lifespan of 500,000 cycles under a test force equivalent to twice the dome’s actuation load (typically utilizing a 500g standard weight), this world-class client demanded an unprecedented 1,000,000 cycles under a crushing 1kg impact force. This destructive testing environment represented over five times the typical industry standard load, pushing conventional metal design limits to their absolute threshold.
The Solution: Multi-Dimensional Engineering Breakthroughs
To overcome this bottleneck, Shanyo assembled a dedicated R&D task force. Over a rigorous six-month development cycle, our engineering team systematically overhauled every facet of production, achieving critical breakthroughs across three primary technical pillars:



Advanced Full-Circle Tooling Architecture
We engineered a seamless, full-circle blanking mode for the production dies. By completely eliminating structural micro-joints and interfaces, we successfully eradicated the traditional stress-concentration zones that are most susceptible to structural cracking over extended usage cycles.
Premium Metallurgy & Micro-Finish Control
We partnered directly with top-tier metallurgical mills to secure raw materials with extreme surface smoothness, as surface micro-irregularities directly impair lifespan. Concurrently, we optimized advanced heat-treatment protocols to maximize material tensile strength and hardness.
Rigorous Stamping Process & Burr Management
We implemented a strict tool-and-die maintenance regimen where punches were precision-reground every 200,000 strokes to limit structural burrs strictly below 0.01mm. Specialized high-performance, anti-wear stamping oils were also introduced to safeguard mold consistency.



The Results and Commercial Value
The successful deployment of Shanyo’s high-lifespan Metallkuppel enabled our client to completely replace expensive Japanese components, achieving substantial procurement cost reductions without sacrificing performance.
